Spoiler alert! There is no person named Maxwell Graves (the “M “and “G” of M&G Solutions).
When co-founders Brad Bone and Michael Cassidy were deciding on a name for their new consulting company in 2018, they knew that they wanted the organization to grow and develop beyond just the two of them. So, they did not want to name the company to leverage their last names or initials. Brad had recently purchased an entity name for personal reasons, which honored the business accomplishments of his great-great-great-grandfather Henry Graves and his son, Henry Graves, Jr.
Henry Graves, Jr. was an American investment banker at the end of the 19th century/beginning of the 20th. Henry Graves was a co-founder and partner of Maxwell & Graves investment bank, which engaged in the railroad and financial services business. Henry Graves, Jr. was also a prolific watch collector who commissioned the most complicated (and expensive) watch ever made. The Patek Philippe Henry Graves Supercomplication is the same pocket watch replicated in the M&G Solutions logo. In a fun coincidence, Henry Graves, Jr. resided in the same town where Mike grew up, which only solidified the decision to name their new business after this legacy.
While the name is a legacy, there is also a legacy among the founders and partners. Mike and Brad met years ago while working in the financial services industry, Mike from the financial services side, and Brad as a part of their outsourcing partner. The Financial Services Company was launching their outsourcing process, and Brad and Mike realized that they could use the learnings they obtained through this process to help other organizations.
Just as Mike and Brad had an ongoing friendship before starting M&G, both Ryan and Colene had relationships with Mike and Brad before joining the team. Ryan and Mike worked closely together at the same financial services organization. Ryan’s expertise with platforms, IT, and payment platforms was an excellent contrast to Mike and Brad’s strengths and opened several new opportunities. Colene and Brad worked together at a large Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company. When Colene heard about what M&G was doing, she reached out to discuss the company’s future compliance strategy and service offerings. Colene joined the team in 2021 to leverage decades of accounts receivable management experience and compliance knowledge to support the clients in the wake of the changes in the compliance end of the industry.
Together they make up an invaluable team of like-minded, driven individuals that each bring their knowledge and expertise to the table. They all work as a cohesive unit with their clients to improve operations, compliance, and processes.
